Newly organized in late 2016, the HPTA was formed to give trials riders in the High Plains area a closer venue to hold trials events in areas ranging from the scrub-lands of Roswell, NM to the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles as well as southern Kansas and Colorado areas. We have riders of all skill levels. We enjoy traditional format trials events as well as gate trials and others to test and improve the skills of all riders -- The divisions score for each other, with the upper-class riders offering abundant advice and encouragement to those who feel they are less skilled.
The club does a lot of camping, practice, and training to help improve skills and hold events. We ride at Haystack Mountain near Roswell, NM, Lake MacKenzie and as well as private property areas and other public land areas.
The club is family oriented and it's goal is to grow with riders and their families that can enjoy riding and spending time together.
Classes (in order from lowest to highest) are:
Juniors (compete separately, close to camp)
Beginner, Novice, Amateur (Lower classes)
Sportsman, Advanced (Upper Classes)
Rules: The Forms and Tools page contains the latest rules. We generally follow the AMA and NATC. Links to the national rules and some scoring-tutorial web sites are found on our links page.
Times:
SECTION SETTING: Day before the event, group section setting gathers at 9am (Saturday) at the campground.
FUN TRIAL: Usually, Saturday 1pm is fun trial time! All are welcome! The group makes up a fun trial event good for all levels and ages.
DAY OF THE COMPETITION (Sunday), Signup is 8:00- 9:00, riders' meeting starts at 9:00 with riding directly after.
Juniors compete immediately after all other score cards are turned in.

Note: HPTA is a non-profit organization. All proceeds and funding go directly to HPTA. Administration, work, trials master, setting, board member, etc. are all volunteered efforts.
First time rider's fee is waived only if it is the first trials of any sort at any place ever. The 'first time free' concept is to help mitigate the $49 required for AMA membership.
AMA: Everyone must be an American Motorcyclist Association member in order to compete, no exceptions.
Membership: To defray administrative expenses, yearly membership is $25 per adult or household.
Spark arrestors are absolutely mandatory for competitors at each HPTA event in order to comply with both State and Local regulations. Those caught competing in an event without one, will be disqualified.
